7 PE and Games To bring in everyday – PE on either Tuesday (with Ben), Wednesday or Friday. Games afternoon for year group on Thursday afternoon. T-shirt in house colour Navy blue shorts Plimsolls Girls- socks Track-suit or similar for winter games Trainers Cagoul Earrings must be taken out or taped All named please

9 Homework Spellings (Friday for Friday) – based on new curriculum word lists and spelling patterns and high frequency words. Numeracy (Friday for Friday) – differentiated activities on Mathletics or worksheets based on the maths they have been practising that particular week. Tables – expectations for end of the year Reading – We stress the importance of reading. This could be fiction, non-fiction, magazines, websites, instructions. Reading to your child (or sometimes a story tape (CD) is really valuable for all children, so even a bedtime story counts! A variety of different reading activities and texts is important for your child to broaden his/ her skills. A minimum of 10-15 minutes daily reading is expected. Homework club - Monday lunchtime with Mr Anscombe

10 Reading Book bags – children to be encouraged to change books Reading scheme Library – one weekly session - 2 books, library skills Guided reading groups– in class once a week Opportunities for individual reading in class

11 Spelling Spelling lists will be given out every Friday to learn for the following Friday. They will follow a weekly spelling pattern The lists will be differentiated for different groups. Children will be expected to use the words from their list in some spelling sentences as directed in the homework task. Daily practice for a short while is more effective than “cramming “ on a Thursday night.
