Recognition Process Initial recognition includes: – Attending the GGSS induction ceremony with FSU President – Receiving your GGSS medal – Recognition in the commencement program Final recognition includes: – Recognition on your academic transcript

Engagement Areas LEADERSHIP Choose Two: Leadership Education Leadership Development Leadership Engagement INTERNSHIP Choose One: FSU Internship course on official academic transcript Experiential Learning Recognition Program – Choose 1 of the 2: Experiential Certificate Program (ECP) Experiential Recognition Program (ERP)

Engagement Areas SERVICE Complete 200 hours Must be recorded on ServScript the semester they take place INTERNATIONAL Choose One: Global Pathways Certificate An FSU approved abroad experience AND an INR course RESEARCH Complete a scholarly research project Complete a culminating project such as a thesis, exhibition, or formal publication

Engagement Area Deadlines Activities: – Must be begun prior to Engagement Area reflection’s deadline. Reflections: – Must be submitted by the deadline but you may have until the end of the semester to finish your activity. EXCEPTION: SERVICE & GLOBAL PATHWAYS

Deadline Exceptions If Service is reflected on as one of first two Engagement Areas: – ALL 200 hours need to be completed and submitted to the online ServScript system by the reflection deadline. If Service is reflected on as the last Engagement Area: – 100 HOURS need to be completed and submitted to the online ServScript system by the reflection deadline. – The remaining 100 hours (200 hours total) need to be finished by the end of the semester.

Deadline Exceptions If completing the Global Pathways Certificate (GPC) through the International Engagement Area as one of first two reflections: – You must meet the GPC deadlines for the same semester you submit your reflection, NOT for your graduation semester. Your first two reflections will always be due one semester prior to graduation. – Example: Fall 2015 graduates completing GPC and hoping to submit the International Engagement Area as one of the first two reflections must follow Spring/Summer 2015 deadlines for the GPC program.

Fall Graduating Deadlines Semester Graduating Intent to ParticipateEngagement Area Reflections Synthesis Reflection Fall 2015May 20, 2015 First two areas: June 24, 2015 Final Reflection: September 16, 2015 October 21, 2015 *Deadlines are necessary and strictly enforced. *If you miss a deadline, you may submit a formal appeal.

Reflection Writing Tips Proofread! Fully answer each question (200-250 words) Use as much detail as possible Do NOT wait until the night before! You may face technical problems or simply forget to submit

Reflection Revisions If either a reflection or your Synthesis are rejected: – 1 chance for revision – 1 week to make revisions – Follow up with Approver if you have a question. This applies regardless of when you submit.

Appeal Process Appropriate for missed deadlines and/or rejected reflection or synthesis submissions. 1.Complete an appeal form (found on website) – Submit appeal form within 2 weeks of notification from GGSS admin. – State the details and reason for reconsideration. – No further edits can be made to reflections/synthesis until appeal is accepted or denied.

Appeal Process 2.Your appeal will be reviewed by a blind reviewer (Program Administrator, Area Approver, or Overall Program Advisor). 3.A Program Administrator will contact you with a decision within two weeks of the appeal request.

Additional Requirements Senior Workshop attendance one semester prior to graduation GPA 2.75 or above [ALL college coursework attempted] Clearance from Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities

TO DO LIST: Submit all reflections and synthesis project by the deadlines. Meet with or actively communicate with your Overall Program Advisor at least once a semester. Inform Program Administrators of any problems or concerns as soon as possible. Answer emails from GGSS in a timely fashion.
