LAV construction status – M. Moulson (Frascati) – Photon Veto WG – CERN – 23 May 2012 Status of A9, A10 vessels 6 Start-up meeting INFN-Fantini on 9 May at Fantini (Anagni) Principal question discussed: Can requirement for stainless steel with μ/μ 0 = 1.01 be satisfied? Suppliers will only guarantee μ/μ 0 = 1.05 (at best) before lamination Welding, machining, etc. will give rise to areas with increased μ/μ 0 Conclusions: Fantini-INFN tour of 3 proposed suppliers of stainless steel to take measurements of 304L plate stock Suppliers: Griffon & Romano (MI), Outokumpu (CR), Forgerossi (VI) Dates: 22-23 May INFN will investigate if criterion for μ/μ 0 can be relaxed Measurement of μ/μ 0 for existing stainless steel segments of blue tube Flanges will probably be made from forged steel Material will be delivered to Fantini ~90 days after orders go out Assuming same schedule as for A11, A9 will be delivered to Frascati no sooner than end of November
