3 Parietal lobe (kinaesthetic)  Takes in information from our bodies about any physical sensations we may experience through touch  Controls taste, touch, the ability to recognise objects, hand-eye coordination and some visual recognition (being able to understand what you are looking at)  This area of the brain benefits greatly from environmental stimulation

4 Temporal lobe  Located near the temples  Controls hearing, some aspects of language and smell  Is involved in our memory

5 Occipital lobe  Least developed sense at birth  Controls vision and visual recognition  By 8 months old should see as well as an adult

6 Frontal lobe (executive)  Reads body language, social cues  It is a decision maker  Critical part of the brain for learning and emotional literacy  Involves thinking, planning, concentrating, problem solving and making judgements.

7  Back 3 lobes are physical  Frontal lobe is emotional  Sensory information is needed  Information about what is going on both within the body and in the outside world (5 senses) and then sending messages to the body to tell us what to do
