COURSES Spanish and Italian Levels 1-5. Level 1- Beginner Level 2R/H – Intermediate Level 3R/H – Advanced (FLACS Exam) Level 4 College Spanish (6 college credits through Adelphi)/4H Italian Level 5- Survey of Literature and Culture *3 year requirement of a World Language

INTERNATIONAL CLUB International Club celebrates the diversity of world languages and cultures. Activities include: movies, visits to museums, guest speakers, community service. Assist with World Language Week preparations & activities.

SPANISH AND ITALIAN HONOR SOCIETY Beyond sophomore year Eligible if you have achieved an average of 90% or above in language class Demonstrate qualities of good character and express an interest in the study of the Spanish or Italian language and culture Involved in peer tutoring Assist with World Language Week preparations National Exams are offered as an option to Honors students.

WORLD LANGUAGE WEEK Takes place in March. Students take part in cultural activities throughout the week during their language class. Students learn about different cultures from around the world. *International Food Day- Each student brings food from other cultures and spends their class period sampling different foods. Everyone taking a World Language class participates.

EUROPE TRIP 9 day trip during Easter vacation. April 2016 – Paris, Spain

LANGUAGE LAB The Iva A. Frattini Class of ‘51 Laboratory for World Languages Lab will feature new computers, headsets and specialized language lab software. Students will engage in authentic communication and project-based learning to maximize language proficiency.
