As a gifted and talented and advanced academics teacher, I believe this is especially true for my students, and my goal is to expose students to higher level thinking. I am dedicated to teaching good knowledge. I do make the assumption that your child is academically motivated, and it is my goal to teach them to be independent and creative thinkers, with the ability to apply knowledge and skills to all aspects of life. The Advanced Academics (PAP) program is designed to be built upon, with each grade a preparation for the next. I am creating LIFE LONG LEARNERS!

Welcome to SpringBoard! SpringBoard is the College Board’s official Pre-AP program, developed to provide a roadmap for attaining the knowledge and skills students require for success in Advanced Placement courses and in college-level work. SpringBoard offers a carefully articulated, engaging, and rigorous English Language arts curriculum that provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to complete in the 21st century. Students need to collaborate with others to complete a task, to make meaning of any text they encounter, and to communicate effectively in speech and writing. SpringBoard provides students ample opportunity to refine and master strategies that will enhance their ability to understand and analyze any challenging text, to write with clarity and voice, to speak and listen in order to communicate and work effectively with others, and to view media with a critical intelligence.

Where does my students get returned papers? Each of my students has a file with their name on it; graded papers are placed in their file, and it is the student’s responsibility to check their file at least once a week. What if my student gets a grade below a 70? All assignments below 70 can be corrected. Original and new grade will be averaged together or placed into the grade book.
13
What if my child is absent? Work is collected for your child the day(s) that they are absent by the class attendance clerk and placed in the Absent Work Folder. It is your child’s responsibility to pick up their absent work from the folder when they return to school. They have the number of days that they were absent to make up the missed assignments.
14
What if I leave a textbook or something else I need for class in my locker? We have designated locker times and are not allowed to send anyone to their lockers during any NON locker times. Not having what you need may result in having to attend tutorials to complete the class assignment missed. Locker Times are Before 1 st period, Before 3 rd period, and After 5 th period.
15
Where do papers get turned in? Each period has a basket, and it is your child’s responsibility to turn in their papers when they are due and complete. What if there is no name on my paper? Papers with no name are placed into the NO NAME folder.
