1 Music Industry and Audience Consumption Aims: To examine how music audiences are changing in the 21 st Century.

2 How do you consume music? Task 1: make a list of all the ways and devices used to consume music: MP3 players CD players Radio stations Music TV Internet music video sites Clubs Live concerts Task: read the article about the BPI music survey. What does it tell us about modern music consumption? What kind of evidence does it use?

3 Example: Radio Airplay Radio, over 100 years on remains a very popular music medium and is often the first time we hear a song being played. What are the ways in which we listen to the radio? The internet. Digital TV DAB radios Analogue radios. Mobile phones.

4 Music Consumption Survey Survey Task: Reword at least 6 questions from the survey you did of yourself. Reword the questions so that they are more closed questions. Ask at least 5 people to answer the questions. Create some statistical data from your findings for analysis. e.g: ‘80% said they illegally download once a week’

5 Research Findings Feedback your findings to the class. Lets look at the University of Hertfordshire's research into teenage music consumption. Task: Write down 5 conclusions about teenage music consumption we can come to based on the Hertfordshire data H/W: How has the teenage music market in the UK changed in the last few years? Write 250 words minimum and include at least 1 graph in your analysis.
