1 State Of Idaho Juvenile Justice Commission District 4 2014 Strategic Plan Strategic Areas, Goals, and Objectives October 8 - 9, 2014 Boise, Idaho

2 Reintegration and Family Engagement Service and Agency Collaboration Recommend that there be additional transitional housing in District 4 District 4 will improve family engagement in the reintegration process Expand the District 4 Council meeting to include open sharing of information and to ensure appropriate agency representatives are included Each District will gather information regarding successful and unsuccessful reintegration efforts, including treatment successes and those that incorporate positive youth outcomes, to send to key stakeholders (from statewide reintegration plan) District 4 will ensure reintegration resources are available and effective (timely, set prior to release, and tailored to the needs and circumstances of youth, families, and their communities) District 4 will develop and/or improve family assessment to assist in building family capacity to engage in the reintegration process Recommend that a family advocate will be involved from entry of juvenile to the facility (O and A) There should be a second family assessment completed at the Department (IDJC?), prior to release of a juvenile, to identify and measure new family strengths, and needs, and protective capacities to improve reintegration District 4 will establish a viable cross-agency juvenile collaboration model that is strength-based, family-driven, and developmentally appropriate Department of Health and Welfare should develop a liaison position, for youth serving agencies, similar to the District Liaison of the Department of Juvenile Corrections That the Commission recommend to the Legislature improvement of Medicaid and system support for transitional youth who do not meet other levels of care

4 Strategic Area: Reintegration and Family Engagement Goal 1: District 4 has successful reintegration where services are readily available, timely, in place prior to the juvenile leaving the facility, and effective (tailored to the needs of the youth, family, and community) Objective A: District 4 will develop and/or improve family assessment to assist in building family capacity to engage in the reintegration process Objective B: District 4 will improve family engagement in the reintegration process Objective C: District 4 will ensure reintegration resources are available and effective (timely, set prior to release, and tailored to the needs and circumstances of youth, families, and their communities)

8 Statewide Reintegration Goal (from the Statewide Reintegration Committee) Goal: Each District has a comprehensive understanding of statewide reintegration practices Objective A: Each District will gather information regarding successful and unsuccessful reintegration efforts, including treatment successes and those that incorporate positive youth outcomes, to send to key stakeholders
