2 TERMINAL LEARNING OBJECTIVE ACTION: Identify Course Objectives and Requirements CONDITION: Given a formal block of instruction in a classroom environment, all materials required to complete the course and a fully operational COFT STANDARDS: Students must achieve a minimum of 80% or higher on the end of course written certification test, and receive a “GO” on all Hands-On Tests

3 COFT SAFETY BRIEFING SAFETY: Tampering with equipment is prohibited and horseplay will not be tolerated CVC helmets must be worn in the Crew Station at all times No food, drinks, smoking or smokeless tobacco are allowed in the training area Use all required references during maintenance and training Do not walk on or move any cables, or touch any electrical connections

4 COFT SAFETY BRIEFING (Con’t) Know the location and function of the three emergency Shutdown Switches Know where the fire extinguishers are, how to use them, the location of the emergency exits and the Shelter Emergency Shutdown Switches Do not permit any activity in the COFT that is unsafe in the BFV

5 Risk Assessment Level: Moderate, due to potential for exposure to high voltage cables Environmental Considerations: None Evaluation: Students must achieve a minimum of 80% or higher on the end of course written certification test, and receive a “GO” on all Hands-On Tests

11 COURSE OBJECTIVE Overall course objective: The purpose of the I/O course is to train and certify select personnel to fulfill the role of the I/O for units in the field

12 ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVE B ACTION: Identify The Mission Of The COFT CONDITION: Given a formal block of instruction in a classroom environment and all materials required to complete the course STANDARDS: Student must adhere to policies and procedures throughout entire I/O course

13 The mission of the COFT is to train and sustain M2A1, M2A2 and M2A2 ODS Crew’s ability to perform critical gunnery skills required in the direct fire engagement process MISSION OF THE COFT

15 COFT I/O COURSE PREREQUISITES Qualified M2A1/M2A2/M2A2 ODS BFV crewman Qualified Bradley Crew Evaluator within 1 year Rank of E-5 to E-7, or specially designated civilian personnel

16 ROLE OF THE I/O Equipment Operator Operator Level Maintainer (1st Echelon) Instructor

17 CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Must meet all course prerequisites Certify IAW initial, sustainment, or refresher criteria Initial: Personnel trained as I/Os for the first time must meet the following criteria: 1. Training: Must receive all required training 2. Written Tests: Must achieve a minimum of 80% or higher to pass end of course written certification test 3. Hands-on Tests: Must achieve an overall GO IAW the performance checklist in order to pass hands-on tests 4. Retests: Only 2 retests are authorized and the 2nd retest requires command approval

18 CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Con’t) Sustainment: Certified I/O’s sustain skills by participating in their unit’s sustainment program which includes the following: 1. Annual instruction on COFT system and program upgrades 2. Written certification test on updated material 3. Hands-on test of I/O conducting a training session Refresher: Personnel that have not participated in a units sustainment program for over 1 year must re-certify IAW the initial criteria
