Scientific Notation Used for writing very small or very large numbers. Written as the coefficient multiplied by 10 raised to a power: 3.0 x 10 4 For numbers > 10 exponents are positive For numbers < 10 exponents are negative To multiply in SciNots, add exponents. To divide in SciNots, subtract exponents.

Sci Nots Practice! A gold atom has a mass of 0.000 000 000 000 000 000 000 327g. Write this number in Scientific Notation. The radius of earth is 6 378 000 meters. Express in SciNot. Diameter of a human hair: 0.000 008m. Length of a football field: 91.4m

Sig Figs? Thems All non-zero numbers are significant. All zeros between non-zero numbers are significant. The Zeros to the right of the decimal and to the left of non-zero numbers are NOT significant. Zeros at the end of a number and to the right of a decimal point are significant. RULES! Zeros at the right of a number and to the left of the decimal are NOT significant.
