Introduction  Childhood obesity is an epidemic that is causing many health problems for children and adolescents.  One third of children and adolescents were overweight in 2012 in the United States (Center for Disease Control (CDC), 2014).  Most of the health problems associated with being overweight and obese will follow children and adolescents into adulthood (CDC, 2014). 11. Consequences If children are overweight, obesity in adulthood is likely to be more severe.  Obese children are more likely to become obese adults. Adult obesity is associated with a number of serious health conditions including heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. Approximately one in every three children are overweight or obese. Being overweight or obese has many different risk factors as well as causes (Staff 2013). of Childhood Obesity
