JAPANESE AMERICAN RELOCATION The US turned against Japanese Americans ALL people of Japanese decent were viewed as spies Executive Order 9066 set up Japanese “internment” camps – Japanese families were relocated for the majority of WWII We claimed it was for national security reasons 110,000 Japanese people were forced to live in these camps.

KOREMATSU VS. THE US Korematsu (a Japanese man) sued the US The supreme court ruled that the internment camps were illegal because they violated US citizens constitutional rights

NUREMBURG TRIALS Nuremburg Trials: German leaders were tried for crimes against humanity (Holocaust) The United Nations, Europe, and the US would put many Nazi leaders on trial Sadly, most leaders went unpunished. Only 24 were tried. 3 were acquitted. The rest received 10 years – Death. 12 were hanged

UNITED NATIONS The League of Nations was dismantled because it failed to prevent WW2 The United Nations was created! 50 countries It’s own “peacekeeping” army Humanitarian Very effective
