4 Written History Writing developed about 5,000 years ago (recorded experiences) History – written and other recorded events of people Written records of human life and accomplishments to understand a society or a civilization

5 Examples of Written History Primary sources – records that were written at the time of the historical event –Newspapers –Magazines –News clips –Video clips –Tape recordings –Documents (Declaration of Independence, Constitution, etc.) –Personal papers (Diary, Passport, Birth Certificate, Naturalization Papers, etc.)
