2. Keep resume to maximum of 2 pages (why?) Use bullets and point form statements (impt. to be concise) Do not include personal information (gender, age, religious affiliations, marital status) Guidelines:

Ensure your contact information is correct and does not contain inappropriate or vulgar language Make sure the phone number you put on your resume is one where you can be reached between regular working day hours (8 am-5pm) Make sure you send your resume and cover letter in the format the employer requests in the job posting: email, fax, mail, in person only…etc.

4. Guidelines: Tailor your resume to the job you are applying for Be honest do not exaggerate NO errors in speeling or greammar (seriously – don’t do that!! ) 

5. Guidelines: Use a customized cover letter- avoid a general letter to every employer Use good quality white or off-white paper – no flashy colors or prints CLEAN type of font - no smaller than 12pt!

6. Guidelines: Have someone else proofread your resume Contact references ahead of time to let them know you are using them so they can be prepared

7. Guidelines: People from past and present can be used as references: Potential references: - former employers/supervisors - co-workers - customers/clients - teachers/ instructors - individuals you have volunteered with/for - personal friends of family (adults/relatives)
