3RD EUROPEAN YOUTH MEETING PROJECT AT THE TIME OF POLISH PRESIDENCY IN THE EUROPEAN UNION POZNAN 18-24.09.2011

PROJECT AIMS: To promote polish Presidency in European Union To create an opportunity for European secondary and high school students to integrate and co-operate through creative endeavours and entertainment To break off cultural and linguistic barriers, dispel stereotypes and build a sense of interpersonal community To foster tolerance and raise awareness of cultural differences and similarities To sensitize the participants to the consequences of global warming To promote the idea of European integration To promote the Poznan city, Wielkopolska region and Poland To promote Euro 2012 Football Championship

DATES OF THE MEETING: 18 – 24 September 2011 DURATION OF THEPROJECT: 7 days

PARTICIPANTS: Students from Poznan and Wielkopolska region schools Youth from European countries invited by schools to take part in the international exchange Youth from non-European countries invited as special guests Young people with physical and mental disabilities

GENERAL PRINCIPLES: As part of student exchange programmes, Poznan schools invite students from European schools witch they co-operate with. Foreign visitors stay at their friends’ homes or hostels. One part of programme is organized by schools (trips, meetings, etc.). The second part consists of entertainment and art activities: dance, music, theatre, painting or sport. Also discussions with special guests are planned

MEETINGS AND EVENTS: A discussion “United Europe in third millennium” with participation of representatives of Polish political scene and cultural life, European Commission, European Parliament, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Education, Mayor of the City of Poznan, Marshal of Wielkopolska Voivodeship, youth organizations and others Discussion with participants of 14 th Climate Conference, scientists, local and country authorities about the danger of global warming

MEETINGS AND EVENTS: Sports activities “Young Europeans in move” – games and plays, basketball, volleyball, football, tennis tournaments, swimming competition, shooting competition, skiing European dance workshops Art workshops Theatre workshops Music workshops Journalism workshops Performances of students’ theatres

MEETINGS AND EVENTS: An evening of European poetry European song Festival Performance of European choirs Competitions: Photography - “Poznan in the picture” for foreign participants - Art – “Europe of my dreams” (poster) - Video documentation of the meeting A multilingual newspaper about the meeting prepared by the participants European parade and fairs

MEETINGS AND EVENTS: Presentation concerning historic events regarding the accession of Poland and 9 other countries to the European Union Beating the Guiness Record by International Recycling Orchestra An international competition for students – “Music with no borders” – an orchestra of European students
