1
Chemistry is the study of matter and its changes and properties
2
Anything that takes up space
3
The amount of matter something has
4
Organic Chemistry - study of the structure, properties, and reactions of matter in its various forms that contain carbon atoms Inorganic Chemistry – Studies all chemical compounds that do not contain carbon – hydrogen bonds Ex. pigments, coatings, medicine, fuel, and agriculture
5
Physical Chemistry - Study of atomic, subatomic, and particulate phenomena in chemical systems in terms of laws and concepts of physics. It uses physics to study the motion, energy, force and thermodynamics of reactions. Analytical Chemistry - Analytical chemistry is the study of the separation, identification, and quantification of the chemical parts of natural and artificial materials. Ex. Forensics and bioanalysis
6
There are seven periods in the periodic table These are the horizontal rows that go across
7
There are eighteen groups/families in the periodic table These are the columns that go up and down
8
