Overview  Nose- nas/o- Exchanges air during inhaling and exhaling; warms, moisturizes, and filters inhaled air.  Sinuses- sinus/o- Provides mucus, makes bones of the skull lighter, aids in sound production.  Epiglottis- epiglott/o- Closes off the trachea during swallowing.  Pharynx- pharyng/o- Transports air to and from the nose to the trachea.  Larynx- laryng/o- Makes speech possible.  Trachea- trache/o- Transports air to and from the pharynx to the bronchi.  Bronchi- bronch/o, bronchi/o- Transports air from the trachea into the lungs.  Bronchioles- the smallest branches at the end of the bronchi  Lungs- pneum/o, pneumon/o- Brings oxygen into the body and removes some water waste from the body
