Graphing in Robotics 8) Catalyst: Name as many types of graphs as you can!
2
Agenda Graphing in Robotics Graphing Practice
3
Useful Abbreviations Manipulated Variable (MV) – The variable in the investigation that is being changed. Responding Variable (RV) – The variable in the investigation that is being measured. TAILS – Title, Axes, Intervals, Labels, Scale
4
Objective NGSS (1) Communicate data through tables and graphs. (1) Communicate data through tables and graphs. (2) Create appropriate graphs based on data.

Graphing in Science 10.06.2015..
6
What are the parts of a graph?
7
Title X-axis Y-axis

9
What are the parts of a graph? X-axis = MV

Example Average Weekly Television Watching in Hours % Students Turning in HW 398 480 5.460 7.540 820
14
What is the Manipulated Variable? Average Weekly Television Watching in Hours % Students Turning in HW 398 480 5.460 7.540 820

What is the Responding Variable? Average Weekly Television Watching in Hours % Students Turning in HW 398 480 5.460 7.540 820
16
What would the title of the graph be? Average Weekly Television Watching in Hours % Students Turning in HW 398 480 5.460 7.540 820

TAILS ✔ list 1.Title – Does your title have the RV and MV in the correct order? 2.Axes – Do you have the manipulated and responding variables on the appropriate axes. 3.Intervals – Are the axes evenly spaced out and not crowded? 4.Labels – Are the axes labeled with units (cm, L, s, kg, etc.)? 5.Scale – Does your data fit your entire graph?
