Solutions The solutions of a quadratic are called roots of the equation. The roots are the x-intercepts of its graph. Sometimes referred to as zeros because at those points the y is a zero.

Estimating Roots Often exact roots (whole numbers) cannot be found by graphing. Estimate the root(s) by stating which two numbers the zero is between.
