Definition: chronic infectious parasitic disease of equine caused by larvae (bot) or adult worm of gastrophillus, characterised by chronic gastritis, loss of condition Etiology: larvae or adult fly of gastrophillus G. nasalis, G. intestinalis, G. haemorrhoidlis

Distribution : wide distributed, present in Egypt Species affected: all species of equine Incidence: summer

Emaciation and colic Shying and head tossing due to fly annoyance When the larvae present in rectum occurs itching and prolapse to rectum

Direct detection of eggs on the hair in summer Detection of larvae in faeces

Rectal ename by water and soap for removal of larvae adhering on rectal mucosa ivermectin

Grooming of animal, clipping of hairs and burning it Prophylactic treatment by anthelmentic
