4 Klaipeda Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Crafts The Chamber of Industry and Commerce that was operating in the Klaipėda region during the interwar period had been founded as early as 1919, six years earlier than the Lithuanian Chamber of Industry and Commerce was established in Kaunas. KCCIC emerged after reorganizing Klaipėda Corporation of Merchants (1822-1919), which, in turn, derived from the Klaipėda Guild of Merchants founded in 1597. “Uniting the main industrialists and tradespeople from Klaipėda region, the Chamber has always been one of the most influential organizations in the region and has even influenced political decisions on a regional level.” Dr. Vasilijus Safronovas (2010)
