4 Central questions for course: What are the important features of a particular fictional text (whether a short story, a novel, or a graphic novel), especially pertaining to its form, style, and content? ◦ Plot, character, narration, pov, setting, tone, figurative language, symbol, thematic, etc.

5 Central questions for course: What effects might different fictional narrative texts have on their readers? And what is it about the texts that create these effects? How can literary fiction complement or challenge other ways of understanding or thinking about climate change?

6 Central questions for course: How and why does fiction, and specifically literary fiction, matter in the context of climate change?
