6. The purpose of Workmen’s Compensation Fund (WCF)
To replace employer's liability
To give prompt and equitable protection against injury, disease, disability or death resulting from employment.

7. Main functions of the WCF
Provide protection for employees who suffers from work-related injury and occupational diseases.
Provide medical treatment and rehabilitation for employees who are faced with work-related injury.
Promote safety at work and work injury prevention.

8. Contributions Collection of WCF
WCF collects contribution from the employer annually (once a year).
At the first year, employers have to pay contributions within 30 days as from the date when establishments have 1 or more employees.
For the next year, the employers have to pay contribution within January each year. They can pay via Bank , Post office and at SSO.
Contributions will be calculated in advance at the beginning of the year.

12. Some Major Issues and Challenges (1)
Reduce rate of work injury per 1,000 employees at lease 2% in each year (in 5 plan year of MOL).
Change industrial classification from 131 classifications to “TSIC” 551 classifications (Thailand Standard Industrial Classification).
Increase benefit in term of benefit payment : duration and the rate of benefit payment.
Develop IT system for linking with the Social Security System.
Develop actuarial valuation system of the fund.

13. Some Major Issues and Challenges (2)
Set up Occupational Clinic
Cooperate with government hospitals which are the center of each region.
Contact hospitals implement proactive and reactive measures.
Employees with work-related injury will have medical treatment in Occupational Clinic of the hospitals.
Supporting budget for training of occupational medicine.
