2. UNCLASSIFIED Purpose of the JWFC Archive To provide a cohesive, efficient search capability which allows a user to find, copy and re use Scenario and MSEL files

UNCLASSIFIED The Research Problem Needed to answer routine Scenario/MSEL queries, such as: –How many of the last 4 events trained to the JMET ST 1: Concentrate and Maneuver Theater Forces? –Can you tell me where I could find a scenario based on an Earthquake? –Which exercises in the last three years addressed Humanitarian Assistance? Do you have MSEL lists?  Non standard archiving made it difficult to respond efficiently: –Each Scenario/MSEL manager determined what files to save and where –Files were saved on computers, common drives, and various portals –The responsible Scenario/MSEL manager had to be available to perform a thorough search.  Time required to answer queries,1 to 3 days, if the respective Scenario/MSEL Manager was present

UNCLASSIFIED The Portal Solution  Scenario & MSEL files are on one of two portals, (There are no TS files) –JWFC SIPR –JWFC NIPR  Files are organized and standardized by COCOM and then by year –A researcher may utilize the search button to enter a key word (The result – list of all archive files containing the key word) –A researcher may go directly to a COCOM folder and look at individual year Scenario and/or MSEL files.  Portal files may not be changed but may be saved “AS” for re use.  Time required to answer routine questions, 1.5 hours. A specific Scenario/MSEL Manager need not be present to conduct research

UNCLASSIFIED Maintaining /Re using Files and the Way Ahead When events finish, Scenario & MSEL Mgrs post to the archive within 10 days.  Any Scenario MSEL branch member may conduct research and provide data to the requester  Our Scenario and MSEL Mgrs can also more easily use files from colleagues The Way Ahead?
