Discovery was discovered by Edwin Holmes on November 6, 1892 was brightened to an approximate magnitude of 4 or 5 was confirmed by different independent sources the first calculations of the elliptical orbits were done independently by Heinrich Kreutz and George Mary Searle perihelion date is June 13 & orbital period is 6.9 years was appeared in 1899 and 1906 but lost afterward was recovered on July 16, 1964 by Elizabeth Roemer

2007 Outburst Outburst between October 23-24, 2007 going from magnitude 17 to about magnitude 2.8 in 42 hours First person reported the change was J. A. Henriquez Santana (Tenerife in the Canary Islands) In late October 2007, its diameter reached 70% of the diameter of Sun On November 9, 2007, the coma had dispersed to an area larger than the Sun, becoming the largest extended object in our solar system
