Types of abuse zChild abuse-Physical, emotional, sexual abuse, or neglect of a child by an adult zDomestic Violence-The use of force to maintain power over a spouse yTension-building phase: insults, threats, etc. yViolent episode phase: hitting, pushing, etc. yHoneymoon phase: promises, apologies, etc.

Types of Abuse zElder Abuse--Physical or emotional abuse of an older person who cannot protect themselves. zHazing--Harassing newcomers to a group in an abusive or humiliating way.

Effects of Abuse zDepression zLow self-esteem zIsolation zShame or guilt zPoor appetite or overeating zDifficulty sleeping zFeelings of guilt, shame, and anxiety
