Scholarly journals are purchased by libraries and by professionals; they are not widely available at newsstands or at the grocery store Scholarly articles are written for other scholars. They are not intended for *laypeople. 3 Length of articles Scholarly articles are usually lengthy articles (5 - 50 + pages). Authority/Expertise Look for articles written by academics, specialists or researchers in the field ; there will usually be a University or government affiliation listed Bibliography Scholarly articles include a bibliography, also called footnotes or references- this allows the reader to consult the same material that the author used in his/her research.
