Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) ~ plans, constructs, and maintains Georgia’s roads and highways ~ has many offices throughout the state ~ yellow Highway Emergency Response Operators (HERO) respond to highway accidents and stranded motorist

Georgia Department of Public Safety ~ created in 1937 to protect Georgia’s citizens and their property Made up of several departments: (1)Georgia Highway Patrol (patrols all highways) (2) Capitol Police (3) Motor Carrier Compliance Division (regulates big rigs)

Department of Economic Development ~ encourages outside investment, trade, and tourism in Georgia ~ especially encourages film production here (Forest Gump, The Blind Side, and Zombieland were filmed in Georgia)

Department of Natural Resources (DNR) ~ keeps Georgia’s rivers and lakes safe and clean ~ operates state parks and preserves state historical sites ~ enforces state hunting, fishing, and boating laws
