What is a spreadsheet?
4
A spreadsheet is a grid. It works as a digital ledger.
5
A spreadsheet opens as a workbook. A workbook has many worksheets.
6
The grid is composed of rows (horizontal) and columns (vertical).

The rows & columns intersect to make a Cell.

10
Information/data is entered in each cell. 1.Text (constants) 2.Number data(constants) 3.Formulas (math)

Formulas
26
Functions with Spreadsheets A function or formula is a set of instructions for calculating a value in a spreadsheet cell. Functions always consist of 3 things:
27
1. EQUALS SIGN = An equals sign always precedes any instruction. =8*4
28
2. INSTRUCTIONS The instructions to process that data. For example, you can write a function for each of the arithmetic operations (+, -, *, /).
29
3. DATA The numbers you type in the formula and values in other cells, OR… The cell locations used in the formula.
