2 The Current State of Agriculture in PA  Pennsylvania has 60,000 farms  The average farm size is 128 acres  The value of agricultural exports is more than $1 billion/year

3 Pennsylvania’s Agricultural Zones  Lowland region (southern half)  Upland region (northern half)  Wide range of crops  Crops from the Lowland region… Corn, barley, potatoes, sorghum etc.  Crops from the Upland Region… Tree fruit, grapes, mushrooms and maple syrup

4 How Will Climate Change Affect Agriculture in PA?  Potential benefits  Potential concerns  Tree fruit orchards, grape vineyards and mushroom farms  Maple syrup industry

5 Conclusion  Climate change will affect some farmers more than it will others
