eNTERFACE ’08 Project 8: Activity – Related Biometric Authentication Paris, 4-29/08/2008

Project Goals  First testbed for ACTIBIO FP7 ICT project  Person authentication and monitoring in Ambient Intelligence infrastructures  Multimodality – dynamic versus static  Introduction of novel activity–related biometrics (dynamic authentication)  Multimodal biometric signal integration  Unobtrusiveness for the user

Selected Modalities  The biometric modalities that will be explored and integrated within Project 8 framework are selected according to the special skills, knowledge and interests of the team members:  Activity – related biometrics  Dynamic face recognition  Voice recognition  Collision–based recognition  A 3D body motion capture module will be the basis for the extraction of most of the biometric signals

System Overview

Proposed Task Breakdown MemberTitleModality Tzovaras Dimitrios Senior Researcher, Project leader Perdikis Serafeim PhD student, Project sub- leader Activity Recognition/Activity Related Biometrics Vogiannou Athanasios PhD student Collision – Based Biometrics Ananthaksrishnan Gopal PhD student Voice Recognition Lojka Martin PhD student Voice Recognition Lopez Adolfo PhD student 3D Motion Tracking Usman Saeed PhD student Dynamic Face Recognition Salah Albert Ali Researcher Dynamic Face Recognition Dibeklioglou Hamdi Master student Dynamic Face Recognition

Proposed Workplan WeekTasks 1st Specification, definition of the set-up, final selection of modalities, assignment of responsibilities, data collection 2nd Unimodal biometric authentication modules development 3rd Unimodal biometric development/Integration of unimodal modules 4th Multimodal authentication, enrolment and testing of the authentication system

Testing Pilot  The final multimodal authentication system will be tested in a fixed seat/office environment pilot  Sensorial setup (microphone and camera positions etc.) and activity scenarios will be adjusted with respect to the limitations of this pilot Possible fixed – seat pilot

Requirements  All team members were requested to: Bring along all necessary code and software for the implementation of their modules Bring along all necessary code and software for the implementation of their modules Bring along all possible hardware (cameras etc.) for the implementation of their modules. More relevant information will be soon communicated to team members Bring along all possible hardware (cameras etc.) for the implementation of their modules. More relevant information will be soon communicated to team members Come up with suggestions on how to apply their own biometric modality to the selected pilot Come up with suggestions on how to apply their own biometric modality to the selected pilot

Communication  All questions, corrections and suggestions should be addressed to: tzovaras@iti.gr, perdik@iti.gr tzovaras@iti.gr perdik@iti.grtzovaras@iti.gr perdik@iti.gr  We wish you a pleasant & productive ( ) stay in Paris!
