5 Calculating the HDI: The HDI for any country is calculated using three variables: Income- measured by GDP per capita Knowledge- measured by adult literacy and the % of children attending school. Longevity-measured by life expectancy at birth.

The PQLI for any country is calculated using three variables: Literacy Life Expectancy Infant Mortality
