Summary ● 150 movie theatres nationwide have added the special systems to help handicapped ● Most theaters in major cities added voluntarily ● States putting more pressure on theater chains to spread technology or risk lawsutis ● “Rear Window Captioning” - hearing disabled can use an acrylic panel to read captioning projected from the back of the theater

Summary ● Theaters in New Jersey and New York have agreed under pressure to isntall technology to help the hearing and visually impaired ● Complaints from citizens appeared to show potential violations of state and federal laws against discrimination against disabled people

Questions ● Should the states be pressuring theaters to install technology to help the hearing and visually impaired? ● If theaters refuse to cooperate, are they discriminating against disabled people?
