Background From 2016 the Bachelor of Applied Science will no longer be available to commencing students Currently enrolled students can continue through to graduation as planned if they wish The reason for change has been that the Bachelor of Applied Science was not easily understood in the market place The Named degrees purpose is more easily understood

3. New Programs Bachelor of Equine Science (2385) Bachelor of Sustainable Agriculture (2386) -Agronomy -Horticulture -Livestock & Poultry Science Bachelor of Wildlife Science (2388) Bachelor of Veterinary Technology (2387)

4. New Programs – Bachelor of Equine Science (2388) Horse nutrition, reproduction, exercise physiology, health and rehabilitation, welfare and behaviour Improve the management, performance and welfare of both leisure horses and equine athletes. Employment Opportunities: Animal nutrition and animal health companies; agribusiness firms; equine journalism; industry organisations and educational institutions; stud / racing / competition stables; breed societies; equestrian centres and riding schools; racing and trotting administration

5. New Programs – Bachelor of Sustainable Agriculture (2386) Develop graduates with key practical skills and interdisciplinary knowledge required to address today's global challenges Expanding need for the study of food crops and agriculture, and ways to increase the output of crops with continued growth of the global population Majors: Agronomy Horticulture Livestock & Poultry Science

6. New Programs – Bachelor of Wildlife Science (2388) Wildlife trapping, identification and handling skills Subjects include: anatomy / physiology, breeding, reproduction, nutrition, health, husbandry, ecology, welfare and behaviour International Experience elective in Australia and Southern Africa Option for Certificate IV in Captive Animals Employment Opportunities: Wildlife sanctuaries and zoos, ecotourism, vertebrate pest and game management; government, marine resource organisations; conservation organisations

New Programs – Bachelor of Veterinary Technology (2387) Industry Practical Work (IPW) will remain a program requirement (linked to a course) -New terminology to align with BVSc and match accreditation requirements (Extra Mural Studies: EMS) -30 days -Completed before 3 rd year -Will align to a particular course for completion and assessment Development of new courses and some redesigning of other courses in preparation for the BVetTech program is underway -ANIM2020 Dogs, Cats and Other Pets, -VETS3040 Mechanisms of Disease – NEW -VETS2032 Animal Pathogens and Immunity Offering of 3 rd Year will remain fulltime internal only Specific sessions for Vet Tech will be organised with the help of 1 st Year Reps Important to contact Vet Tech Coordinators if you have a varied study planner

8. What’s the same #48 Unit, 3 year degree FT Can continue on to Honours year New Honours program 2016 – transition seamless Minimal change to course offerings in Yr 1 All Programs offered at Gatton Campus

9. What’s changed The name of degree Industry Practice Work (IPW) no longer a Program milestone / requirement (except Vet Tech) Industry placement available as a course elective Degree program consists of : - #32 unit core courses - #16 units of electives All programs can dual with BAgribusiness Programs offered in Internal mode, but majority of 1 st and 2 nd year courses will be still be offered externally for the time being

How to apply and when Requests can be made from 26 th Nov 2015 and close the 19 th Feb 2016 –Strongly recommend that applications are made prior to the end of year. –Due to anticipated workload students may not be advised until late Jan.
