4 Free tutoring in reading, math and/or science from state-approved providers for eligible students Students must be eligible for free/reduced- price meals Parents must choose the provider; many providers were approved, so competition may be great

5 Mandated as a choice by NCLB at SINI schools (under Florida’s Differentiated Accountability Model) Maximum per student allocation is $1254 Priority is given to the lowest achieving eligible students

6 Transportation is not provided by the district Providers vary in curricula, group sizes, session lengths and rates. Providers charging lower rates will provide students with more hours of tutoring.

7 Increases opportunity to assist students to meet proficiency You can use school money for additional tutoring Provides opportunity to generate rental revenue – (note: providers who have non- profit status pay non-profit leasing rates)

8 1.Principal chooses an School Contact to work with parents and providers and an Assistant Principal to be the District Contact (if School Contact is an AP, then only one Contact is required) 2.Send the name(s) of your contact(s) to Terry Pitchford 3.August 22, 2011 – List of SES School Contacts will be given to providers

9 4.Enrollment packets will be mailed home to students on F/R-priced meals before school begins 5.August 23 - 24, 2011 – Enrollment packets must be sent home in backpacks (only with students on F/R-priced meals.) The packets will be delivered to your school for distribution.

10 6.August 27- 31, 2011 – Provider Fairs 7.September 7, 2011 - Last day for parents to submit enrollment form 8.September 23, 2011 – Providers will receive student rosters 9.Week of October 10, 2011 – Tutoring begins

11 Select an SES School Contact and an Assistant Principal who will be the District Contact (if AP selected, only one name is needed) Encourage parents to participate; may invite providers to attend open house, but more than one provider must be invited

12 When applicable, contract with providers to lease space at the school for tutoring In early 2012, Principal (or designee) will complete one online survey for each SES Provider that served students on campus for the FDOE Provider Evaluation.

16 Assist parents with enrollment Encourage parents to attend a Provider Fair and/or ask questions Remain impartial; may not promote one provider over another Assist with leasing of facilities (if applicable)

17 Train office staff and faculty about SES Maintain communication with district staff Upon request, provide student achievement data to providers (when available)

18 Collaborate with district staff on the use of Cayen Systems’ Supplemental Services Tracker (SST) to monitor student participation Participate in conference calls throughout the year Monitor school-based providers
