1. Website for our class. http://mmhseabbott.wicomico.wikispaces.nethttp://mmhseabbott.wicomico.wikispaces.net/ The information is updated at the end of each school day. Check it and stay up-to-date when you miss a class period. You must use your Holt textbook username and password (add 1 to the end of your password)

2. Home Page The books link to the Holt Online website. Use your username and password to access the resources.

3. Navigation Bar The information on the site is divided into pages to make them easy to find. Some pages will be more useful than others.

4. The PowerPoint Pages List and links for the PowerPoints and Handouts used in class for the month. Use these to see what you missed or to review what you didn’t understand.

5. The What Are We Doing? Pages Daily summary of what we did in class for each day of school. It includes notices about upcoming assessments as well as homework assignments.

6. The Student Pages Each student has his or her own page. Students will post the final versions of their writing and technology based assignments on their page.

7. How to Sign In to My Wiki Page Use your Holt (my.hrw.com) username Use your Holt password BUT you must add a “1” to the end of your current password

8. Click on the sign in “button”

9. Enter your Holt username and password

10. Find your class period Find your name

11. Locate the “Edit This Page” Tab

12. Examine the toolbar that appears at the top of the screen Locate the “File” Icon on the toolbar

13. Locate the “+ Upload Files” button Files that have already been uploaded are visible on the left of the screen

15. Click “Upload” to download the selected file

16. You may have to use the “Browse” button to locate the file

17. Find the “Location” drop down box

18. Locate the Video [V:] Drive That is our Shared folder

19. Locate the Student folder

21. Open the “Abbott” folder to see the class and directions folders

22. Find YOUR file and “click” it

23. Highlight the file you have selected from the V: drive WAIT for the file to completely download!!!

24. A new “box” will appear on your page Place it where it needs to be

25. The “box” should have the name of the file you selected from the V:// drive

26. If it is NOT the file you want, you can remove it easily by selecting the box

27. Right click on the box to bring up the option menu and select “remove”

28. The “box” will disappear, but you will have to remove any text you have added

29. Be careful whenever you add or remove any files Your page can be edited, but some changes are more difficult to repair

30. Be sure to add a description of the file so others will know what is there Click “Save” to save all of the changes you make to your page

31. Once you save there will be a notice on the top of your page Your changes are NOT complete until that notice appears!!!

32. Your work belongs to you and no one else Part of using technology is knowing and following the rules If your page is misused or changed, let me know and I can locate the offender

33. We will continue to add various media to your pages throughout the year. Many of our assignments will be posted and shared for others to see, so always do your best. Remember to use the Computer Lab on Tuesday afternoon or make arrangements to stay with me on another day.

35. You can now visit all of the pages of the wiki including those of your friends. Throughout the year you will be able to develop your own wiki page. There are many sections created to help you be successful in my class. Use this tool as much as possible during the year.
