Bell Ringer New England Colonies: Area north of the middle colonies, settled by Puritans from England. Then, take out your note sheet from yesterday & turn in homework

Review Who settled the Southern colonies? What type of religions were present in the Middle colonies?

Religion New England was settled by Puritans- radical Protestants- from England “saved” if they prayed, lead moral lives

Religion Puritans came from all social classes- mostly middle class Had to leave England because of religious persecution BUT they were not tolerant of religions themselves

Massachusetts 1620 Puritans came over on the Mayflower Plymouth Colony was settled Mayflower Compact- form a government and obey law
