Research Project Overview Project Goal: To better understand the extent and range of activities carried out by Europe and the U.S, in the field of standards-related technical assistance and capacity building to the Asia-Pacific region and the Americas. To our knowledge, a comparative study of European and U.S. activity in this area, does not exist.

Scope of “Standards-Related Technical Assistance” for this study “Expert Advice” – Assessing existing standards infrastructure/needs – Developing standards-related programs – Implementing programs that have already been developed Training Programs – Short- or long-term stay in-country – Workshops or seminars – Training of staff (i.e.: at National Standards Body, university, laboratory, government ministry, private sector) in recipient country/region Publication or provision of standards-related literature for recipient country/region Provision of equipment for implementing specific standards-related programs Paying for recipient-country staff to attend other conferences, meetings, training activities conducted by international standard-related organizations
