Continuing Education - Online SkillSoft classes via WebJunction are free for any library staff member in the state. Focus is on leadership, management, communication, popular software, & 3,000 brief videos about software & technology skills. To register for a free account, complete the application at http://webjunction.skillport.com/ and be sure to select the State Library of North Carolina as your sponsoring agency. http://webjunction.skillport.com/ Lynda.com had an extensive course catalog but very low usage so contract was not renewed. State Library staff will continue to evaluate distance education methods for library staff in the state. 16

Broadband / E-Rate Project Goal: test a consortia e-rate application for dark/lit fiber in public libraries in, potentially, 30 systems across the state Takes advantage of the modernization of e-rate program discounts that focus on broadband connectivity Builds upon the Golden LEAF Rural Broadband Initiative grant completed in 2013 that built fiber connections in North Carolina Partner in this project is The Rural Center RFP written and posted late fall of 2015 21
