3 After courting a number of women, he met Mary Jane Clairmont, a widow with two young children. Mary hated her step-mother and had a bad relationship with her. Mary was well educated, but not in school. This was strange for the time. She was encouraged to write.

4 Mary married a famous poet named Percy Shelley.

5 Frankenstein Frankenstein was inspired by a bad dream that Mary had. Shelley wrote the novel when she was 19 years old. Frankenstein is a novel infused with some elements of the Gothic novel and the Romantic movement.
