Examples:

Objectives: Student will: Use an outline of block letters to spell out a minimum of your first name on their sketchbook. Create variety and movement by layering block letters on top of and behind one another in different sizes. Develop interesting patterns to fill in negative space between letters. Add color to make letters pop, creating a focal point.

Create Outline: 1. Using your pencil, start with the first letter of your name and place it on the bottom of the page in a block letter format. This letter becomes the “foundation” of the pile.

Create Outline: 2. Then, begin adding the other letters, not necessarily in spelling order, around, behind, in front and on top of the first letter. 3. Try to fill the space from the top to the bottom with letters from at least your first name. Repeating letters is OK!!

Create Outline: 4. When satisfied with design, outline with a sharpie.

Create Pattern: 4. After the letters are piled high (repeating letters is encouraged!), fill in the spaces with patterns. 5. Having trouble thinking of patterns? See Miss Warner!

Add Color: 6. Once the patterns are filled in, use markers to color in the letters. This makes your name pop. 7. When finished, use glue to attach to front of sketchbook.

Day 4 Objectives: Continue Patterned Name Tower Sketchbook. In Class due date: tomorrow. Procedures papers due tomorrow.

Day 5 Objectives: Collect Procedures Papers.
