Korean War Communist North Korea invaded South Korea. We asked the UN for help for S. Korea. Luckily, the Soviet Union wasn’t present, so the UN agreed. Along with 16 other nations we sent troops to help South Korea. 33,000 US soldiers gave their lives to defend South Korea, and we are still a presence there today

Cuban Missile Crisis Located just 90 miles from the US, Cuba had turned to Communism. In 1961, the CIA had attempted to help an overthrow of the Communist Government. The Bay of Pigs Invasion was a huge failure for the US The Soviet Union had built nuclear missile sites in Cuba, we warned the Soviet Union about the actions, and came within minutes of a nuclear war before both sides cooled down.
