achieve (v.) Def: to get or reach (something) by working hard Sentence: The young runner achieved her goal of competing in the Olympics.

attitude (n.) Def: the way you think and feel about someone or something Sentence: You should have positive attitudes about your work.

discrimination (n.) Def: unfair treatment of a group of people because of race, ethnic group, religion or gender Sentence: Discrimination against people is wrong.

illegal (adj.) Def: not permitted by law Sentence: It is illegal for 17 year olds to be outside their homes past midnight on the weekends.

politics (n.) Def: issues of running a country Sentence: Senators and representatives deal with politics.

Democrat (n.) Def: a person who believes in or supports democracy Sentence: Obama is a democrat.

banter (v.) Def: to joke in a friendly way Sentence: Friends banter back and forth about embarrassing experiences.

debate Def: (n.) discussion between people in which they express different opinions about something (v.) to discuss (something) with people whose opinions are different from your own Sentence: Scholars debate theories that pertain to their field of study.
