ENGAGE – work allocation Call for EoIs issued 12 Oct with deadline 27 Oct Received nine EoIs from non-Board members Need to proceed with selection, detailed work allocation and administrative procedures (e.g. contracts) See separate report distributed by email

ENGAGE metadata A 3-tier schema has been adopted in the project (DC, CERIF, data set-specific schema) Pushing for CERIF in the “middle-tier” – some more work needed to convince people promoting pure RDF/Semantic Web technologies ENGAGE demonstrator developed by EKT to show suitability of CERIF and facilitate adoption within the consortium

ENGAGE – demonstrator An initial mapping of existing flat PSI metadata standards to CERIF has been performed (Nikos, Keith) Demonstrator under development at EKT Technologies used: JavaEE, Spring, Maven, MySQL, open source data transformation tool developed by EKT (biblio-transformation- engine, available at Google Code)

ENGAGE – next meeting Haifa, 14-15 November (Host: IBM Israel) Keith, Brigitte, Nikos to attend Demonstrator showcase Detailed introduction to CERIF Participation in discussions and final decisions about the ENGAGE metadata approach

OpenAIRE Plus Decision needs to be taken on people involved from euroCRIS Procedures for official work assignment by EKT (~10 KEuros) need to begin ASAP Direct assignment procedure requiring 3 offers from different individuals

EuroRIs-Net+ Procedures for official work assignment (15KEuros) to euroCRIS by EKT need to begin ASAP Direct assignment procedure requiring 3 different offers – trying to simplify it with an official statement from euroCRIS that it is the custodian of CERIF and the relevant EC recommendation.

INFRA Call Deadline: 23 November Infrastructure for archaeological data sets I3 proposal coordinated by University of Oxford CERIF-related activity coordinated by David Shotton (Univ Oxford) euroCRIS can be a sub-contractor of EKT

Projects and outputs Overall goal: Use projects to support euroCRIS activities strategic goals without diverting effort too much to not relevant activities Activities that could be supported: – Travel, meetings, networking, dissemination – International CERIF-based system aggregating information from many CRIS – DRIS – Open source reference implementation of CERIF Participate in an ERIC? (sustainability)
