1 The know-how that extends human potential
Technology: The know-how that extends human potential

2 Communication Communication: The sending and receiving of a message.
Electrically: By means of electricity (telegraph, radio, T.V., microwave, satellites, modems, faxes, internet, ) Verbal: Every day talking (verbal interaction) Graphically: visualizing by looking at pictures or words (letter, numbers, pictures)

3 Construction Construction: Producing a structure on a site.
Four types of Construction A. Residential B. Commercial C. Industrial D. Public works Materials used in construction: woods, metals, plastics, composites, ceramics

4 Biotechnology Biotechnology: Technologies with a strong relationship to living organisms, such as agriculture, healthcare, and waste management Agriculture: Genetic engineering, cloning, hydroponics, aquaculture Healthcare: Immunizations, vaccines, medical imaging, prosthetics Waste Management: Solid waste, sewage, hazardous waste

5 Energy Energy: The ability to do work (F x D).
Nonrenewable resources: Coal, oil, natural gas, uranium Inexhaustible sources: solar, wind, gravity, tidal, geothermal, and fusion Renewable sources: wood, animal and human power, and biomass

6 Production Production: The making of a good
Processing materials: wood, metals, plastics, ceramics, and composites Forming, separating, fabricating, and finishing Organization- Expected output, business, human resources, and quality control

7 Transportation Transportation: The movement of goods or services from one location to another. Water: ships, submarines, hydrofoils, and air cushion vehicles Land: steam, gasoline, diesel, electrical, solar Non-vehicle: pipelines, conveyors, and PRT’s Inter-modal: Using two or modes of transportation Air: active versus passive lift, space
