Good Practice/ Practice that works “…something that has been tried with beneficial effects with the implication that it may work for others and to be transferrable to others working in similar circumstances.” “It does not suggest that it cannot be improved” “..the most efficient (least amount of effort) and effective (best results) way of accomplishing a task, based on replicable procedures and that have proven themselves over time for large numbers of people” (EUBIA Guide 7: Practice that works p29) “A good practice should reach beyond theory to real world application in some context where its impact can be observed or measured in some way.” ( Senior project, DELIVERABLE D4.1 report on Best Practices and Roadmap towards the Roadmap Project: co-funded by the European Commission FP7) Janice & Noreen: Body Wisdom Dancers

Good Practice/Practice that works How do we define practice that works? What are the key characteristics? What makes a good learning environment for older people? What stops older people from learning? What are the barriers to participation for older people? How can they be overcome? (Examine in Package 5) How do we engage the most vulnerable groups? (Examine in Package 5)

Project: Details of Template Name of Group: Name of Example Project: How is the project financed? Contact Person Name: Email: Project website address and/or alternative sources of information about the project: Why is this example of a good project? Please describe project in detail, and why it meets the criteria.
4
Criteria What is the GATE Criteria for good practice or practice that works? There were common themes arising from 3 rd Project meeting minutes in Trento. We need to look at these and agree and I would like to propose two others we used in EUBIA for consideration
5
Good practice Criteria arising from 3 rd meeting in Trento to be agreed: 1.Older adults have ownership of the project or has involved older people in its creation 2. The project has clear objectives and outcomes that can be met in a format that is achievable 3. The project respects and meets the needs of the group and individual learners 4. The project has considered the needs of older adults e.g. access, convenience, cost, appropriate time & location/venue etc
6
Proposal of two other criteria There is evidence that the project can be transferred and adapted to meet specific needs (individual, local, regional, national) There is evidence that the outcomes of the project can be further developed or sustained in the longer term. Any other comments about the project: A free space to add additional comments about your project

Next Steps Change, add to and agree Criteria Choose a project as a case study example from your country Fill out the case study evidence form that will be sent to you Return to Sinead by email Return date: 30 April 2014 Added to Framework of (Good) Practice/Practice that Works in Guide
