Poor access to bathroom or shower No safety bars, cluttered floors Poor lighting, narrow halls, uneven floors Substandard electricity, lack of smoke alarms Space heaters, wood stoves Obstacles, ripped carpet, throw rugs Pets, rodent infestation, dark or icy entries Dangerous neighborhoods, remote areas

Other caregivers or even family can be the abuser May be taking the elders money, medications, valuables, etc (clients are very vulnerable) Not providing adequate care May have dementia or be afraid to report Little or no oversight may exist as it “happens behind closed doors” You are at risk! Never confront! REPORT! Call 911 GUARD YOUR OWN SAFETY
