3 How it Relates to the Readings The readings push for literacy develop in families whose first language is one other than English ESL KidStuff provides lessons, games, activities, crafts, and interactive activities Can be used at home or near any computer Can help parents develop their literacy skills while helping their children further their literacy and English skills

4 How it Relates to the Readings (cont.) Furthers Barone and Morrow’s push for a link between home-school efforts, such as journals, workshops, and classroom activities The website includes a number of games and other playful activities that students do naturally that would help students’ literacy development

5 Insights, Observations, and Questions One Concern: The website only includes resources for individuals who are of Japanese or Korean descent While this is wonderful, the website needs to expand its resources to include other languages in hopes of aiding more individuals Our Suggestion: With the increase in the number of individuals who speak Spanish, the website should include resources for Spanish-speaking individuals

6 Implications for Literacy Instruction Anyone who has access to a computer can use this site Can be used at home, school, or a public library – basically anywhere they have access to a computer Between the worksheets, flash cards, projects, and games, there are many activities that can appeal to different types of students Students can work at a level that is comfortable to them and focus on the activities that are the most beneficial to them
