OUR MISSION The mission of Ouchi- O’DONOVAN 6-8 is to provide students with a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes academic excellence, social responsibility, and college readiness. We respond to the developmental needs of middle grade learners by maximizing the potential of all students and building a sense of community to foster success at higher educational levels.

4. A TTENDANCE  GOOD ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED (Not to exceed 5 unexcused absences in a semester/ 9 in a year)  REPORTING STUDENT ILLNESS (Up to 2 days to clear absences)  STUDENTS MUST BE ON TIME DAILY (In their seat by 7:40am)  DETENTIONS FOR TARDIES (30 minute detention issued for students who arrive after 7:45)  BENEFITS OF POSITIVE ATTENDANCE

5. POLICY FOR ELECTRONICS  CELL PHONES MUST REMAIN TURNED OFF AND IN BACKPACKS  SCHOOL IS NOT IN ANY WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS  ELECTRONICS WILL BE CONFISCATED IF SEEN OR HEARD DURING SCHOOL HOURS- Repeat offenders will be placed on a behavioral contract.  WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO NOT BRING VALUABLE ITEMS TO SCHOOL

P ARENT V OLUNTEER H OURS P ARENT H OURS D UE : F RIDAY, J UNE 3, 2015  All O’Donovan Parents are expected to complete 40 Annual Parent Volunteer Hours. *TB Shot Must be submitted and not be over a year old. Volunteer Hour Opportunities: - Attend Parent Workshops - Attend Parent Conferences - Attend Progress Report Card Distribution Events - Serve as a PE Aide - Volunteer for School Beautification events - - Supervision in the morning, lunch after school

PARENT EDUCATION  ESL Parent Classes – Through LACC 1 st semester  Technology Courses for Parents 2 nd Semester  MONTHLY WORKSHOPS o TECHNOLOGY: PINNACLE PROGRAM o WORKING WITH YOUNG ADOLESCENTS o PARENT INVOLVEMENT IN STUDENT’S EDUCATION o TRANSITION INTO MIDDLE SCHOOL o TRANSITION INTO HIGH SCHOOL-( A-G REQ)
