6 6 Challenge the future Our University 1. Architecture University based in Rotterdam 2. 200 students broken up into groups of 10 with different nationalities 3. 1 Dutch student per group 4. Introduction divided in two activities: 1. City tour 2. Design Concept Exercise

7 7 Challenge the future City Tour 1. Aims to get students acquainted with Rotterdam 2. Transportation 3. Show you were to feed yourself, AH, Dirk van den Broek etc. 4. Attractions, gyms 5. Architectural interests: Rotterdam Centraal, Delftse Poort, kubushuis, Witte Huis, Erasmusbrug etc. Figure 5. 8 8 Challenge the future Design Concept Exercise 1. With a background of the city tour, students will gather in a circle and design a private room for the member to their left. Students will therefore be both the client and the designer. 2. During consultations, clients will be asked to select preferences from a list of options for their private room in a shared apartment. 3. Each client will have 100 points to allocate options which will reflect personal & / or cultural backgrounds. 10 10 Challenge the future Constraints Size of design must be kept to less than 350m 2 Students must submit one design. Design must ultimately contain dutch design developments. Be it sustainability, using less, etc. Judges will be chosen from faculty and local industry members The time space for the above activity is 5 days. Results Best design to be chosen from those submitted Team of chosen design will win vouchers for Ikea
